Destination Tip - Sicily |

North Italians love to criticise the south of Italy but that's usually because they've never been there. It is poor, there is high unemployment and crime but you will be hard pressed to find food as good, people as kind, the weather as great, beaches so wonderful and so many things to see in other parts of the country further north.
Sicily is also relatively safe for the traveller, keep an eye on your valuables and don't wander around late.
Some of the highlights we recommend:
- wandering around San Vito Lo Capo and into the natural park of Parco dello Zingaro
- a visit to the ancient temples at Agrigento
- Catania's markets
- skiing/hiking/biking on Mount Etna
- snorkelling on the Aeolian islands
- hiking in the Parco Madonie
