LOMBARDY LAKES

Northern Italy is pock marked by a number of lakes where the plains rise into the Alps. These include Lago di Garda, Lago d'Orta, Lago d'Iseo, Lago di Como and Lago Maggiore and a number of other lakes. All are within reach of Milan and centres like Bergamo and Brescia and while they are a bit of a stamping ground for tourists and rich locals there are plenty of spots to escape and enjoy the natural wonders of the lakes and mountains.
