TERRE: GETTING THERE AND AROUND

TO / FROM THE AIRPORT
The nearest airport is at Pisa which is connected by
train to the Cinque Terre.
BUS
Mini buses run between the towns in the summer in the
Cinque Terre. The La Spezia based Navigazione Golfo
dei Poeti is the operator. Tel. 0187 967676 or 0187

Buy a one day village hopping ticket for 10.35/6.20
for adult/child or a single/return to one village for
2.60/4.15
But other towns close to La Spezia can only be reached
by ATC buses (tel. 0187 522522). Bus destinations include
Porto Venere and Lerici from La Spezia.
TRAINS
A train line runs all along the coast and stops in all
the towns. You can buy a one way ticket and get on and
off as you please but must buy a return to come back
the other way.
Reservations are advised on all long distance trips.

CAR / MOTORCYCLE
It is possible to drive from town to town inland
but parking is difficult in the small towns and you’re
best to leave your car and use the local transport
(train)
or walk between the towns.

The A12 runs from La Spezia to Genoa and Livorno. The
A15 goes to Parma and connects with the main north-south
route through Italy, the A1
BIKING
You can rent bikes along the coast but note that the
region is very hilly. Riomaggiore has Mar Mar in Via
Colombo 234, tel. 0187 920932 where you can rent bikes.
FERRIES
Ferries depart from La Spezia for Genoa and other towns
in the summer and on some weekends in other seasons.
The La Spezia based Navigazione Golfo dei Poeti runs
boat excursions to the Cinque Terre from Porto Venere

Happy Lines, www.happylines.it runs daily ferries to
Bastia in Corsica from La Spezia.

in summer. Tris runs to and from Golfo Aranci.
HITCH HIKING
Catch the Lerici Bus from La Spezia and get off at Via
Valdilocchi in the port area to access the A12 and A15.
The S1 passes through the city and connects with the
S62 for Parma and the north.
