CATANIA

Catania is the second largest city in Sicily and many come here to see Europe's highest volcano Mount Etna which overshadows the town. The affects of its lava flows and ash are visible in the town, with the once white marble in the elegant buildings of town now stained black over the centuries. However this gives it a surreal feel and with its many interesting historical relics, a fabulous fish market, nearby beach, cathedral, amphitheatre's and wonderful Sicilian city life, many visitors find this one of their favourite stops in Sicily.
